WWE Smackdown Update: Show May Revert To Two Hours In Mid-August

Yesterday, a report originated by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio that indicated that WWE Smackdown would remain a three-hour show for the foreseeable future, mainly because the third hour of the show generates better ratings for USA network than any of their other alternatives. Now it appears that Meltzer's speculation may have been premature as a new report suggests that the network is going to be launching a new series later this summer.

According to Metacritic.com, the new series called "The Rainmaker" is set to premiere on Friday, August 15 on USA in the 10 PM ET time slot. Of course, in its current form that would conflict with Smackdown's third hour so the logical assumption is that that is the date that the show will revert to two hours.
