WWE SmackDown Women's Title Match Officially Set For WWE's Money In the Bank Event

WWE veteran Natalya won a 6-Pack Challenge during last week's WWE SmackDown episode to become the new #1 Contender to WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey. Last Friday's WWE SmackDown episode then saw Rousey face Shotzi in a Championship Contender's Match and came out of the match with a huge win. Immediately following the match, Natalya brutally attacked the WWE SmackDown Women's Champion and put her in the Sharpshooter.

Prior to Rousey taking on Shotzi in a Championship Contender's Match, it was made official by the WWE that Natalya will be getting her WWE SmackDown Title shot at Money In The Bank, but now the storyline is that the title match may no longer take place due to Rousey’s injury at the hands of Natalya as it was mentioned in a backstage segment that Rousey suffered a serious injury in the attack and that she might not even be able to compete at Money In The Bank.

If the match does take place at WWE's Money In The Bank Premium Live Event, then this will be Ronda’s second WWE SmackDown Women's Title defense since winning the championship from Charlotte Flair in the “I Quit” Match at WWE's WrestleMania Backlash. Rousey's first WWE SmackDown Women's Title defense was on the May 13th episode of WWE SmackDown, when she defeated Raquel Rodriguez.

WWE's Money In the Bank Premium Live Event is set to take place on Saturday, July 2nd from inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
