WWE Superstar CM Punk Snags "Key Role" In Upcoming Horror Film

-- After signing on with a key talent agency earlier this year, WWE superstar CM Punk has bagged a "key role" in an upcoming movie.

-- The Hollywood Reporter reported today that Punk has been cast in the upcoming indie horror film "Night Patrol" which is slated for a 2025 release. The film is directed by Ryan Prows and will also feature Justin Long, Jermaine Fowler, RJ Cyler, Dermot Mulroney, Freddie Gibbs, YG, Flying Lotus, Jon Oswald, and Nicki Micheaux. A synopsis of the plot reads as follows:

An LAPD officer (Fowler) must put aside his differences with the area’s street gangs when he discovers a local police task force is harboring a horrific secret that endangers the residents of the housing projects he grew up in.

Long plays the officer’s partner, recruited as a legacy into night patrol. Cyler stars as the officer’s brother, who sees what he isn’t supposed to see, while Mulroney plays Long’s character’s father, a sergeant with many secrets. Punk rounds out the cast as the sergeant’s brutal right-hand man.

-- After wrapping up his feud with Drew McIntyre at WWE Bad Blood in a Hell in a Cell match, Punk appeared on Raw the next night and announced that he would be taking some time off. It is not known if his absence is in any way related to being cast in the movie.
