WWE "Talking Smack" Recap: Intercontinental Champion Big E, Apollo Crews, Kevin Owens, Natalya And Tamina Talk

Hello again wrestling fans, and welcome back to the Talking Smack Recap! The hosts of this mornings show will be Kayla Braxton, alongside her co-host, Paul Heyman. Kayla and Heyman kickoff the episode, with a bit of talk show banter, hyping the upcoming Royal Rumble event. Kayla talks about Jey Uso declaring for the rumble, and goes into conversation about the main event segment on Smackdown. Kayla asks Heyman about the returning Kevin Owens, and he has no comment, yet. Kayla introduces us to the first guests of the morning, Apollo Crews and The Intercontinental Champion, Big E.

Apollo Crews and Big E

Kayla asks them both about facing off against each other recently, and wonders if it’s awkward to sit next to each other. They both say no, and Big E begins to talk up Crews, calling him “unlike anything I’ve ever seen”. E tells us the Intercontinental Championship “means everything” to him, and he’s “here to make money”. Big E finishes talking about the subject, by telling Apollo 2021 is his year, and Apollo interrupts. Apollo asks if the result last week was “closer than you expected”, and tells Big E he’s coming for the intercontinental championship, “because I have to have it”. Apollo tells E they will be cool after the match is over, but during the match, it’s on. They shake hands, and Heyman questions why. Heyman tells them he “has a problem” with them being friendly. Paul questions Big E about what would happen if Apollo beat him. Heyman continues the question, mocking them both, and telling them “hatred is a far better emotion in the ring”. E thanks Heyman for the advice, but he won’t take it. Apollo agrees, and walks away, followed by Big E. Kayla wraps up the segment, and Heyman starts to go off, because Big E left his microphone. Heyman apologizes for E, telling us he “brought his hatred to the show”, and Kayla introduces the next two guests, Natalya and Tamina.

Natalya and Tamina

Kayla talks about their win on Smackdown, and Natalya tells her that tonight, “she felt a killer inside”. Kayla questions them about their relationship as veterans, and Natalya says “our experience makes us very dangerous”. Natalya talks about her and Taminas’ family legacy, and Tamina gets upset. Kayla talks about how Tamina has never held a title, and Natalya tells her that Tamina “has been held down”. She goes on to say Tamina is “destined for greatness”, and tells us she will “kick your ass”. Kayla reminds them there is only one Smackdown Womens Championship, and wonders if that will cause them to turn on each other. Natalya tells Kayla that her and Tamina “represent greatness”, and implies that they won’t turn on each other. “The BOAT and The Yacht” leave, and Kayla moves on to the last interview of the night, Kevin Owens.

Kevin Owens

After an awkward pause, Heyman begins to tell Owens he “outsmarted us”. They passive aggressively begin to laugh about it, and Heyman tells Owens “well played”. A baffled Heyman continues, telling Owens “we didn’t see it coming”. Heyman says he’s “envious, and I wish I came up with something like that”. Heyman moves into the “consequence” of the matter, and hypes Roman Reigns. Heyman tells Owens he can’t “control his rage right now”, and that Roman “is going to explode”. Heyman mentions to Owens that during his time as Raw GM, he helped Kevin many times, “because I liked you”. Heyman wants Owens to know that Reigns is “going to hurt you, and beat you fugly”. Heyman continues, and tells Owens he will “wake up in ambulance” after the match. Heyman says Owens will think “this must be hell”, which Heyman thinks looks alot like Florida. Heyman tells Owens he “made it”, and he will pay the price at the Royal Rumble. Owens laughs, and talks about the whole “card subject to change” rule. Owens tells Paul the rule is working out on his favor, and there’s some “poetic justice” involved, as “card subject to change” ruined his chance of seeing Razor Ramon vs Jeff Jarrett as a kid. Owens says the only hell is talking to Heyman, and he remembers saving him during his time as GM. Owens wondered how many times he let Heyman down, and says he’s “been a Paul Heyman guy since 1998”. Owens continues, and tells Heyman not to worry about him, because he never has before. Owens talks about having conversations with Heyman over a match with Brock Lesnar, and how time and time again, it just didn’t happen. Owens points at the platform he was thrown off of by Reigns 2 weeks ago, and tells Heyman he couldn’t be there last week “because they wouldn’t let me”. Owens finishes by saying “I don’t want to be a hero, I want to be the Universal Champion”. Owens tells Heyman to call Roman, but stops, and says “I’ll tell him to his face next Friday on Smackdown”. The segment ends in silence, as the show fades to black.

That’s all for this weeks episode of the show that just keeps on giving. Join me here next Saturday morning, for another edition of the Talking Smack Recap, right here on Rajah.Com!
