Pro wrestling veteran and former WWE NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa filed a new trademark for the terms “Psycho Killer” and “Psycho King” on Wednesday, January 21st. This trademark is intended for advertising purposes, including posters, postcards, and stickers, as well as for entertainment services.
The filing coincided with Ciampa's announcement that he will be leaving WWE after his current contract expires in the “very near future.” He took to his Twitter (X) account to share the news, thanking everyone in WWE, as well as his fans and family, for their support throughout his decade-long journey with the company.
Interestingly, “Psycho Killer” by Talking Heads was the entrance song Ciampa used during his time on the independent circuit.
Ciampa’s most successful period in WWE was spent with the NXT brand. His rivalry with Johnny Gargano in 2018 is considered one of the greatest feuds in the brand’s history. He became a two-time NXT Champion during this time, but he was unable to replicate that success as a singles performer on the main roster. Recently, he had been pursuing the United States Championship but fell short in his attempts to capture the title. His last match with the company was a tag team bout alongside Gargano on the December 15th episode of SmackDown, where they faced Ilja Dragunov and United States Champion Carmelo Hayes.
