XFL Announces Prospect Development Partnership With NFL

The XFL continues to do big things.

Since being acquired by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Dany Garcia and others, the new owners of the XFL keep reaching new ground for the upstart professional football league.

In a new interview with ESPN, XFL President and former Buffalo Bills executive spoke about the new deal.

"People would ask, 'What are the opportunities to look at the game through a different lens from a player development standpoint?'" Brandon told ESPN. "'How can you be an incubator or an accelerant in many different verticals, from officiating to rules innovations to playing surfaces, to player development?' You can go on and on.

"Any opportunity that the NFL has to advance the game of football, I think they've always been open to, and we've had some really good dialogue, led by our ownership group."

Additionally, Garcia spoke with the popular sports media outlet about the NFL not intending to put the XFL in a position to be their "developmental league."

The partnership isn't intended to "put the XFL in a position [as] a developmental league," Garcia said during her chat with ESPN.
