Was The Young Bucks addressing Cody Rhodes jumping-ship from AEW back to WWE with their much-talked-about cryptic Twitter bio update during WrestleMania 38 Weekend?
Nick and Matt Jackson recently spoke with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated for an in-depth interview covering their pro wrestling careers.
During the discussion, the decorated tag-team duo spoke about the Twitter bio that many assumed to be about Cody Rhodes.
For those who missed it, they posted this Twitter bio update during WrestleMania 38 Weekend, the day after Cody Rhodes made his WWE return against Seth Rollins.
“The story of a couple of self-made SoCal kids who came from nothing [and] built a gigantic movement was never going to be romantic enough for you."
Nick and Matt Jackson touched on the speculation within the pro wrestling community regarding the aforementioned Twitter bio being a reference to "The American Nightmare" leaving his spot in AEW as one of the co-founders of the promotion, an Executive Vice President behind-the-scenes for the company and one of the top in-ring performers.
Matt Jackson on how the Twitter bio wasn't related to Cody Rhodes jumping-ship from AEW back to WWE: “That Twitter bio was actually dedicated to cynical wrestling fans who’ve always discredited us and shaped a narrative early on that we weren’t important to the launch of AEW. So they ran with a story that made more sense to them. We talk to Cody regularly, and hope nothing but the best for him.”
