rajah.com Mailbag
-By Kayfabe and Rajah

Alright, I have re-opened the Mailbag section with the help of two individuals, Kayfabe and Grandpa. Hopefully, it will work out better this time, as the above individuals will handle the great BULK of the emails.

Here are the steps to take if you like your question answered in the Mailbag section:

1. Please check to see that your question(s) have not been answered on any other sections of the page. Take great note of the FAQ Part I and FAQ Part II as well as the mailbag archives at the bottom of the page. .
2. Send a legibly written question or comment to mailbag@rajah.com. Please limit yourself to only one question per person per email. This allows us to update the mailbag more frequently.
3. ALL email sent there may potentially be included in the Mailbag. If you do not want your response posted, do NOT send it there!
4. If a name is included, I will post it along with the email. If you do not want your name published, do NOT write it!
5. Remember, it is impossible that every email I receive get posted on this page. Only the best and most popular questions/comments will likely make it on.
6. Also remember, that questions will be answered by either Kayfabe or Rajah, so any personal remarks should be addressed accordingly. The following color scheme will be used:

Rajah - GREEN
Kayfabe - YELLOW
Vegas - AQUA

Is it just me or is Steve Austin's return more bad than good? From 96-99, Austin was phenominal and the only person who was carrying the WWF for the entire time but while he was away, the hard work put in by The Rock and HHH along with the prize talent discovered in Kurt Angle meant that the WWF was just as good as before. Now Austin is back, The Rock has been pushed into the background and all we see is 20 minutes of punching, one Stone Cold Stunner then 10 minutes of beer drinking. In all fairness he is on the road back from a serious injury and isn't going to be in top form but that's even more reason to put him up against mid-carders who would help him get back into shape. It looks to me that the WWF has used the Rock while Austin was away and has now slapped him in the face and HHH is simply there for Austin to beat when realistically, there is no way that would ever happen with both men's current physical condition.

As far as I'm concerned, anytime you get someone of Steve Austin's magnitude back, it has to be considered a good thing. He brings in the merchandise, he brings in the ratings, he brings in the money. It's good business. The man is one of the top two most popular wrestlers of all time. There's no way you can classify that kind of addition to the roster as a negative.

What's up. I just read on another site that former WWF and WCW wrestler Paul Roma had passed away. Is this true and if so, do you have any details in regards to his death?

I've heard this rumor as well, and it is completely false. His career may be dead, but Romeo is still alive and well.

Hey Kayfabe and the guru of all wrestling fans Rajah, I was just sifting through your Mailbag when I read a question about what ever happened to Marty Jannety. Well I work at a club in Pasadena and I can tell you that He is on the independent circuit here in texas, runs a wrestling school out of Humble and looks better than ever. He still signs everything with the old phrase " keep rockin" and is one of the coolest guys I ever met. Always the showman he answers questions with statements like " you only talk to me because I wrestled with Shawn" Goodnaturedly of course. He is currently working some promotions overseas but I'm sure will return soon. Sorry to be so winded just thought you all would like to know. P.S. He likes Michelob Light but will drink Miller Lite if he has to. hahahhahaha

Well, there you go. I always thought Marty seemed like a cool guy, and I still maintain that he's one of the more underrated performers to ever grace the squared circle. Thanks for the e-mail; I love those kinds of stories. If you can get a hold of Marty we'd love to get a chance to interview him and get his name back out there. I know he still has a lot of fans today, one nut in particular named Copeland. That one was for you, Jay!

Hmmm... should I act like a dignified rajah.com staff member, or like Weakner...

Anyway, just to continue this feud between blood capsulers, bladers and blood bucketers, you, my friend, are so wrong. And I quote: "There's no such thing as blood buckets!" (Kayfabe, Mailbag #31). Actually, if you check out the TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs video, when they are chronicaling the creation of the teams, you'll see something interesting during the Edge and Christian part. When it looks like Gangrel will give Edge a blood bath, the lights come on, and there are Edge and Christian hugging with Gangrel laying covered in blood. And what, pray tell, is sitting there next to him? Why it's a pedestal with a BUCKET from whence the BLOOD came, thus being a blood bucket!

Oh yeah, baby. THAT'S for getting me to believe Raj was a pole vaulter for a few days. Oh, and I'm whooping you in the Staff PPV Contest (you're next, Weingberg).

Maybe this will keep the arguement going longer than "One's elf, is this on?"

Blah, blah, blah. That's totally out of context and you know it, pudgy man. When a wrestler bleeds, he BLEEDS- he doesn't reach under the ring to smear fake blood on himself. Of course, the bloodbaths are a different story entirely.

If people are out for revenge for the pole-vaulting incident, then I've got plenty more coming, because as I recall, some 700 odd loyal fans e-mailed Rajah about that one. Heh, funny pranks totally rule.

Dear Kayfabe, Okay, i have been wondering this for like a motnh, and ive lost sleep because of it. HOW THE HELL did HHH fake that car stunt thing at Survivor Series 2000. Austin drove him like 50 feet down. I thought it was like a taped backstage happening, where they just rolled the footage on the TitanTron. But if it wasnt that, how did they do it? And on another note, it is really lame that HHH has no broken bones or anything, when HHH was in a wreck like 100 times worse than Austin's. Isn't that really, really obvious that the WWF just like wants you to know that their fake.

It's all theatrics, my friend. Trips wasn't in the car that fell. It was just a fine job of editing by the wonderful WWF production crew. Suspended disbelief. The business has already been exposed to a certain extent. It's a form of entertainment, and that was a damn good ending to a PPV, even if it seemed unrealistic when HHH showed up on TV again eight days later.

Hi, on XFL.com, under the league offices or something like that. (In other words, the people behind the XFL) Vince McMahon isn't on it? He is the owner, right? Why isn't his name anyone on that part of the site?

Vince is indeed the owner, but it's only a subdivision of his company, and I believe he's made Basil DeVito the president of the XFL. As I understand it, Basil handles most of the day to day operations, which allows Vince to concentrate on the WWF, as well as the XFL when need be.

I just rented an old tape of Survivor Series 1997 (the scene of the infamous Bret Hart screwjob) and I noticed something interesting. When "Team America" comes out for their match (Vader, Goldust, Marc Mero and Steve Blackman), their entrance music is the exact same theme song currently being used by Kurt Angle. What's up with that? Where did this song come from? In another coincidence, all of Kurt's 3 I's are mentioned during the show. The Jackal keeps talking about his "intelligence", JR calls Ahmed Johnson "Mister Intensity" during his entrance, and of course the screwjob says much about the integrity of the company. Just thought that's interesting. Maybe the WWF were subconciously preparing for the debut of our Olympic champion exactly 2 years later.

Kurt Angle's music is actually "recycled", as the Patriot use to use it, but I'd say the rest of those occurences are mighty strange coincidences.

Who was the other wreslter against Jake the Snake during the Blindfold Match and what happened to him?

That would be Rick Martel, who made a comeback in WCW a few years back, but unfortunately suffered a career ending injury.

Hey Kayfabe and Rajah, This is Rob; a long time reader and lover of rajah.com and I have an important question that has bugging me for awhile now.Ok here it goes, A Couple Of Months Ago Kurt Angle did the Moonsault on Hardcore Holly and "broke" his arm.So the question is first, was that ligitimate and if so does Holly have heat with Angle for it.Please Answer My Question in this week's mailbag and I'll keep on visiting you site!

Yes, it was legit, but Holly didn't have any heat with Angle over it. Both men are professionals and a wrestler, more than anyone else, knows that accidents will happen, and there is a great risk of injury any time you step in the ring.

Why is Teddy Long always the referee in matches with Farooq? Am I the only person that has noticed this?

I haven't noticed that, but I do recall that Tim White use to ref all the Godfather's matches just so he could party with the ho's afterwards.

Last night I was watching Smackdown (Dec. 28) and I heard the Rock say in one of his promos that he went to school on Nashville Tenn, which is where Smackdown was been aired from. Now, I recently read thr Rock's autobiography book which states that the Rock went to high school on Hawaii the first year and Bethlehem Penn. for the remainder of his high school years. I was just wondering what the truth really is, if you know??

He was likely referring to the time he spent as a young wrestler in Tennessee. When the Rock was first training to become a wrestler, he spent a few months in Tennessee on the WWF's "farm team", if you will, before moving up to the big time. He basically learned all the tricks of the trade there and "went to school" in Tennessee before joining the WWF and becoming the most electirfying man in sports entertainment.

How about this for a wrestle mania final match: Foley vs. Shawn Michaels in a loser leaves town match for the commisiner position.

I don't like it. First off, a loser leaves town match makes no sense because both men are already retired for all intents and purposes. Also, if either man were going to come back, I don't think it'd be wise to pit them against each other. There would be a lot more money to be drawn if they were split up to wrestle two different opponents on two different PPV's to draw twice the buyrate. Also, with both men being out of "ring shape" it could be ugly to have them both in the same match. They would likely work much better if they were in there with somebody else that is at the height of their game, and has the ability to make it easier on them in the ring.

Could you possibly give me the URL for HBK's official Website????

Why certainly: http://www.hbk-twa.com/. For more official wrestler sites, click here.

Hello. First off, Rajah and Kayfabe rock. Second, to that guy who asked "Can you throw cans of beer to Steve Austin?" YOU'RE AN IDIOT! I'm sorry, but I couldn't believe anyone would ask such a stupid ass question. Okay, now to MY stupid ass question: Why does the WWF continue to do title matches at the main event of Smackown/RAW is WAR when the title NEVER changes? And why does the WWF constantly have people struggle to get the tag to their partner in Tag-Team matches and then both teams tag in at the same time? Or when a match gets DQed because of a run-in? I mean, they do those (and other) acts over and over! How many times do I have to hear Michael Cole say on Smackdown "Edge is struggling to make a tag to Christian!" Or have Mick Foley/Vince McMahon make a title match and then the champ retains the title AGAIN? Don't they think people get tired of the SAME THING? What do they pay those writers and booking people for?! I understand they can't let the WWF title (Or the other titles) change all the time, but than why do they continue to make these matches when anyone who has watched for a year knows what's gonna happen?

That's just the way it is. The WWF has been using that formula for tag team wrestling for the last decade and a half. It can be annoying at times, but for the most part it works, and with a few tweaks they can still wrestle a good match with it. As for Title matches, it all depends on the situation. A Title can change hands on any given TV show. If they changed hands often it wouldn't be special. The WWF Title has changed hands on Raw something like a half-dozen times in the past few years. It happens, but not often. The Title has to be defended or there's no intrigue at all. I doubt the finish you have in mind always comes to fruition as you watch the matches.
