Smackdown for April 14th opened with a recap of JBL's win (via DQ due to Eddie Guerrero's interference) over Rey Mysterio in the Championship Series to determine the first challenger to WWE Champion John Cena. The Smackdown opening then aired. The announcers explained that JBL, the winner of Angle-Guerrero this week, and the winner of Booker T vs. Big Show next week, would then meet in a three way match in two weeks to determine the top contender to the WWE Title.
U.S. Champion Orlando Jordan vs. Booker T. JBL joined the announcers at ringside, still very annoyed over his WWE Title loss at Wrestlemania. Jordan attacked Booker as he was distracted by JBL, and decked him with right hands. Booker came back with a clothesline and a back kick. Booker hit a jumping side kick, and Doug & Danny Basham ran in. The referee called for the bell at the two minute mark. Winner via Disqualification: Booker T.
The Bashams and Orlando beat down Booker, until The Big Show ran in and cleaned house. JBL screamed for his men to get back in the ring and take out Show, but they were tentative. General Manager Theodore R. Long came out and ordered a handicap match with Jordan and the Bashams (who were in street clothes) against Booker and The Big Show. JBL actually said Long was "Not only a disgrace to the black race, but the whole human race".
Orlando Jordan, Doug & Danny Basham vs. Booker T & Big Show. This one was over before it started. Show took down Jordan and one Basham on the floor, while Booker pinned the other Basham with an ax kick in less than two minutes. Winners: Booker T & Big Show.
JBL berated his men afterwards, since Booker and Big Show will wrestle next week in the WWE Title Contender tournament, and he was hoping to have both taken down tonight.
Torrie Wilson vs. Dawn Marie. The announcers put over that Dawn was unhappy with Torrie winning the bikini contest last week. Dawn hit a knee to the gut and delivered a double axhandle to the back of Torrie. Dawn slammed Torrie face first into the mat a few times, then catapulted her into the turnbuckles. Dawn choked Torrie against the bottom rope, but Torrie came back with a sunset flip, and they traded reversals for two counts. Dawn hit a knee lift, then dropped Torrie with an X-Factor for a two count. Dawn covered a second time for two, then hit some forearms to the head. Dawn charged Torrie, who leapfrogged her and cradled her for a two count. Torrie then hit a swinging neckbreaker for the pin at the two minute mark. Winner: Torrie Wilson.
A video package on the Smackdown tour of Australia was shown.
Carlito's Cabana. The ring was decorated with lounge chairs, a hammock, a palm tree, and coconut drinks (plus a barrel of apples) for Carlito Caribbean Cool's first interview segment. Carlito ripped into Piper's Pit and the Highlight Reel, saying their shows weren't "cool". Carlito then ripped on the Chicago fans, and compared Rey Mysterio to the Chicago Cubs, saying they were both losers. Carlito then introduced Mysterio as his first guest. Carlito talked down to Rey about his loss to JBL last week, and had a replay shown on the screen. Carlito said that Eddie Guerrero cost Rey his title opportunity. Rey said he was upset over it, but Eddie was family, and they would work out their problems. Rey said he would get his chance to be WWE Champion again. Carlito mocked Rey, singing "The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow" and said that things between Eddie and Rey were not right. Carlito said Eddie was jealous of Rey, and things are going to get worse for him.
Suddenly, music played, and a red carpet was rolled out in the ring. MNM (Joey Mercury, Johnny Nitro, and Melina) came down to the ring, with photographers snapping away. They entered the ring, and Carlito was impressed by them, saying they were cool. Melina took the mic and introduced themselves, acting like they were Hollywood Stars. Melina said it would be easy for Nitro and Mercury to win the Tag Titles, since Rey and Eddie were "on the outs". An "Eddie" chant started up. Rey said Melina has bad breath. MNM attacked Rey, who battled back until he succumbed to the two on one attack. Carlito sat in his lounge chair and watched the attack, ending with Mercury and Matthews hitting an elevated DDT on Rey to lay him out.
Backstage, JBL was yelling at the Bashams and Jordan for failing against Big Show and Booker T. JBL blamed them for his not still being WWE Champion. JBL told them they needed to "shape up" or he would cut them loose. As JBL walked off, he bumped into a delivery man with a package for John Cena. JBL said he was friends with Cena, and handed the delivery man a big tip. JBL said it was John Cena's new WWE Title belt. Orlando suggested they destroy it. JBL said he would do it himself, as he didn't want it screwed up.
Rey Mysterio was being attended to by a trainer, when Eddie Guerrero came in, angry about the attack he had just learned about. Rey asked where he was, and Eddie said he had car trouble. Rey was still annoyed about the previous week, and the two argued. Eddie said he was hurt by Rey still not forgiving him. Eddie said he would beat Kurt Angle, and he would win the WWE Title, and he would dedicate it all to Rey.
WWE Champion John Cena came out for the presentation of his new WWE Title belt. Cena put over the fans, and talked about Wrestlemania 22 coming to Chicago. Cena talked about all the contenders gunning for him, then said JBL had taken something that belonged to him. Cena said he needed JBL to bring it out to him, otherwise he would have to go to the back and take it from him. JBL came out, and had people bring the box that was delivered and a metal trash can to him. JBL then took off his jacket to reveal the old WWE Title belt, with Cena's name on it. JBL said that Cena left the belt lying around his locker. Cena said JBL was making a habit out of stealing his stuff. JBL went on a diatribe about Cena destroying the WWE Title. JBL said he was going to destroy Cena's new belt. Without looking at what he was doing, JBL reached into the box, which was filled with raw liver and fat. Cena said the box was for JBL, as it was filled with something he picked up at a slaughterhouse that JBL needs, "guts". JBL looked like he was going to be sick. Cena came down and dumped the box of guts on JBL. Cena then went back to the ring, and the new WWE Title was lowered from the ceiling. Cena said he was making an impact, and the new spinning WWE Title was strapped around his waist.
Heidenreich vs. ??? They actually never said who Heidenreich was facing. Heidenreich hit a pair of boots to the face, and said "That's what friends are for" after the first one. Heidenreich said "He's my friend" after the second boot, then hit a side slam for the pin. Winner: Heidenreich.
Heidenreich propped his unconscious opponent in a corner and talked about how he wanted everyone to be his friend. Heidenreich then read a poem about "breaking wind" since he was in the Windy City of Chicago.
Backstage, Booker T and Sharmell were talking about Booker facing Big Show next week, as Booker was posing for publicity shots. Sharmell said Booker was the next WWE Champion. Kurt Angle entered, and took issue with that statement, saying he would be the next "five time WWE Champion". Sharmell tried to calm Booker, and Angle claimed Booker needed a woman to fight his battles. Sharmell got in Angle's face, and reminded him that he lost to Eddie Guerrero last year at Wrestlemania, and tonight he has to get past Guerrero again. Sharmell then did Booker's "Can you dig that sucka?" line, and walked away from a suddenly concerned Angle.
The $250,000 Raw Diva Search contest was announced, putting over the success Christy Hemme has had since her win last year.
Cruiserweight Champion Paul London, his head bandaged, came to the ring as the attack by Chavo Guerrero and Billy Kidman from last week was recapped. London said that doctors wouldn't let him wrestle tonight, due to having 18 stitches in his head. However, London said he didn't come to wrestle, he came to fight, and called out Chavo Guerrero. Chavo came out, and said London stole the Cruiserweight Title from him, and that London has never beaten him one-on-one. Chavo said his attack was "all business" and he was the greatest Cruiserweight of all time. Chavo said that once London was medically cleared, he would take the Cruiserweight Title back. Chavo said he was a man of honor, and would never fight an injured man. Billy Kidman came in from the crowd and attacked London, but London backdropped him. Chavo ran in, but London gave him a dropsault and sent him from the ring. London DDT'd Kidman and gave him a 450 splash, as Chavo watched from the aisle. London and Chavo shouted challenges at each other as the segment ended.
The Raw Rebound was shown.
JBL's win over Rey Mysterio in the Championship Series was recapped again.

Angle hit a back elbow to break free and then took him down with a shoulderblock. Angle backed Eddie into a corner, but broke clean. Angle grabbed an armbar and drove a knee into it. Eddie came back, reversing the armbar and applying a jujigatame, but Angle rolled out of it. Guerrero applied a side headlock, but Angle shoved it off. Eddie went to ringside and got a chair, but seeing the referee get up, Eddie tossed the chair to Angle. Angle tossed it back to Eddie, but Eddie tossed it back to Angle and then got down on the mat as if he had been hit. Angle threw the chair to the floor, and acted innocent as the referee got up and tried to figure out what had happened. Eddie hit a clothesline and a tilt-a-whirl headscissors. Angle came back with a German suplex for a two count, then a backbreaker for another two count. Angle then applied a bodyscissors and squeezed Guerrero on the mat. Angle went for a chair, but Rey Mysterio came out and gave Angle a West Coast Pop. Angle rolled to the floor, as Rey picked up the chair. Guerrero turned and seeing Rey with the chair, covered up, thinking Rey would hit him. Rey started to explain to Guerrero what had happened, when Angle went up behind Rey and shoved him into Eddie, the chair smacking Guerrero. Angle then covered Eddie for the pin at the twenty four minute mark. Winner: Kurt Angle.
As the show ended, Eddie was yelling at Rey on the floor for costing him his chance at the WWE Title.
