Former AEW TNT Champion Mark Briscoe has not been seen on AEW programming for over a month, with his last appearance occurring on the March 11 episode of Dynamite, where he competed in a match. During his absence from television, a fan recently inquired about Briscoe’s whereabouts in a Q&A session with Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com.
Johnson reported that Briscoe remains with AEW, but his ongoing absence is due to an injury he is currently recovering from. However, he did not provide specific details regarding the injury.
Prior to his absence, Briscoe was involved in a storyline with Tommaso Ciampa. Briscoe, who won the AEW TNT Championship by defeating Kyle Fletcher at last November’s Full Gear pay-per-view, lost the title to Ciampa on the January 31 episode of Collision. Eventually, Ciampa lost the championship back to Fletcher before Grand Slam: Australia. On the March 7 episode of Collision, Briscoe inadvertently cost Ciampa his match against Daniel Garcia, leading to Ciampa attacking him and turning heel in the process.
Briscoe's last appearance on the March 11 episode of Dynamite saw him teaming up with The Young Bucks to face the current AEW World Tag Team Champions, FTR, and Ciampa, but he ended up on the losing side of the match.
