According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there has been "a lot of talk" about Chris Jericho returning to WWE, potentially as soon as the January 5 episode of RAW.
Meltzer emphasized that despite the speculation, neither WWE nor Jericho’s representatives have made an official statement. Within wrestling circles, this situation is being discussed as if it is a done deal. Meltzer framed it more as an expectation rather than a confirmation. He also noted that no one involved has outright denied the rumors; at the same time, some WWE sources have advised him “not to believe anything said about it.”
Meltzer pointed to Jericho’s history of surprise returns to caution fans against locking in on specific dates. In a past WWE comeback, Jericho shifted his return date after word leaked, intentionally delaying it to subvert expectations. This history has led many to speculate that a similar strategy could be in play now.
The rumors surrounding Jericho have intensified as his deal with AEW expired at the end of 2025. Combined with Jericho’s open statement about his desire to continue wrestling into 2026, the possibility of a final WWE run seems plausible to many observers. For now, however, the story remains unconfirmed. Jericho is also the lead singer of the heavy metal band Fozzy and has had notable runs in WCW, ECW, and Mexico, in addition to his time in WWE and AEW.
