WWE announced during the countdown show of last year's WrestleMania 41 premium live event that they have acquired the Lucha Libre promotion AAA. Since then, they have hosted several events featuring stars from both companies.
AAA has also begun to hold weekly television shows. Recently, the credits for one of these shows included three executive producers: Mark Calaway, Lee Fitting, and Paul Levesque. Fitting is a Senior Vice President of Production at ESPN, while Calaway and Levesque are well-known as WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker and WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H, respectively.
According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, only The Undertaker is directly involved with the production of the show. Although Triple H can have the final say if he chooses to, sources indicate that he has not exercised that option. Fitting, who primarily oversees football programming, is not directly involved with the production of the show. The Undertaker previously stated that he does not intend to make AAA a replica of WWE, but he is focused on enhancing the storytelling aspect to make it clearer.
