As previously reported, David Finlay's contract with NJPW was set to expire soon, and he is reportedly interested in exploring opportunities outside the company.
According to Fightful Select, Finlay's contract has officially concluded, making him a free agent. The report also mentions that he has garnered interest from WWE, although NJPW is actively attempting to re-sign him.
Additionally, it has been noted that Finlay has had discussions with WWE, and there is considerable speculation that he might join AEW, following Clark Connors, who recently left NJPW and is now working with AEW. However, it is important to mention that AEW has not officially announced Connors as signed to their roster.
As of now, there is no update on where Finlay will ultimately end up, but further information will be provided as it becomes available.
Finlay had an emotional farewell to the NJPW fanbase during the NJPW New Beginning event in Osaka on February 10th. After his loss to Callum Neman, he bowed to the crowd and embraced Gedo, even kissing the NJPW logo at the entrance. Finlay has been with NJPW since 2015 and is a multi-time champion, including being a two-time IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion.
