Backstage Update On Kevin Owens’ WWE Status Following His Neck Injury

In April 2025, WWE veteran Kevin Owens suffered a neck injury that was deemed serious enough for him not to be expected to return in time for WrestleMania 42. However, in November, he shared a brief video clip showcasing his recovery training, leading many in the pro wrestling world to believe that his return to the ring was imminent, possibly at Royal Rumble 2026. Unfortunately, that no longer appears to be the case.

Sean Ross Sapp recently discussed Owens' situation on the latest edition of Fightful Select Answers, revealing when he might be expected to make his WWE comeback. According to Sapp, Owens did not undergo surgery until July of last year, and he hasn't heard of Owens participating in any serious ring training since then. Additionally, Sapp mentioned that no one within WWE has informed him of any creative plans for Owens, nor have there been discussions about his return at this point. He believes WWE will wait until Owens fully heals and assesses his feelings after such a significant injury.

Since signing with WWE in 2014, Owens has become one of the top wrestlers, featuring in memorable feuds with notable figures like Shane McMahon, John Cena, Steve Austin, and Sami Zayn.
