Powerhouse Hobbs has wrapped up his work with AEW and while almost everyone expects him to pop up in WWE, it doesn't appear as if that will happening on the January 16 episode of Friday Night Smackdown.
Fightful Select reports that Hobbs' deal with AEW expired at midnight on January 15, immediately making him a free agent and legally eligible to appear for any other wrestling promotion. Hobbs taped a match on Wednesday that will air on Saturday's AEW Collision which would serve as his final appearance for the show and also opening up a unique possibility where he could show up on WWE TV one day and AEW the next.
The Fightful report notes that Hobbs was not scheduled to travel over to WWE and meet up with the roster nor was he expected backstage in any capacity. Today's Smackdown taking place in London. While WWE could have flown in Hobbs yesterday to appear on the show, the report states that this never happened.
Despite all this, Hobbs is fully expected to sign with WWE and there's a possibility that he may have already done so as the company has been looking to bring him in recent months and have had interest in him for years prior to that.
