According to ESPN.com, YouTube TV and Walt Disney resolved their dispute this week, resulting in a new agreement that restores Disney-owned channels to the platform, including ABC and ESPN, which is a partner for WWE’s premium live events. YouTube confirmed the return of Disney content, stating that viewers should be able to access the channels “over the course of the day.” Disney also apologized for the recent blackout and thanked customers for their “patience as we negotiated on their behalf.”
The report notes that the blackout of Disney content on YouTube TV began on October 30th when the two parties failed to agree on a new licensing deal. This disruption affected YouTube TV subscribers by interrupting coverage of major college football matchups, professional sports, as well as news and entertainment programming.
On Friday, November 14th, Disney Entertainment Co-Chairmen Alan Bergman and Dana Walden, along with ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro, expressed their satisfaction that the networks have been restored in time for fans to enjoy a variety of programming options over the weekend, including college football.
With the resolution of this dispute, WWE fans will now have access to the ESPN App Unlimited plan to watch Survivor Series later this month on YouTube TV. The partnership between WWE and ESPN officially began in September with the event WrestlePalooza.
