Latest Update On A WWE PLE And AEW All Out Going Head-To-Head On September 20th

As previously reported, AEW All Out is set to take place on Saturday, September 20, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. On the same day, WWE will host a Premium Live Event in Indianapolis, Indiana, featuring a main event between John Cena and Brock Lesnar. However, WWE has not yet confirmed the name of the event or the scheduled time.

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, both shows will air simultaneously, suggesting that WWE's event will occur in the evening. Brock Lesnar is scheduled to appear on the September 12th and 19th editions of SmackDown, so he will likely be featured prominently in the lead-up to the September 20th event.

Meltzer noted that WWE's late addition of the September 20th event complicates Tony Khan's ability to reschedule AEW All Out to an earlier date. Competing against a marquee match like Cena vs. Lesnar could be detrimental to AEW. If AEW does opt to move All Out to an earlier time, WWE could still respond by scheduling an NXT event in the afternoon, similar to how they countered AEW All In: Texas on July 12th after AEW adjusted its schedule from evening to afternoon to avoid direct competition with WWE's Saturday Night's Main Event.

Meltzer further indicated that Nick Khan and Triple H appear to be much more focused on countering AEW than Vince McMahon was, as counter-programming AEW has become a common strategy under Khan and Triple H.
