As previously reported, The Beast Mortos competed at AEW Grand Slam: Mexico on Wednesday night, after Tony Khan personally requested that CMLL lift their ban on him. Reports indicate that any past animosity between AAA and CMLL has led to a ban on talent who previously worked for AAA from performing for CMLL or teaming with CMLL talent. However, CMLL has relaxed this stance in recent years; for instance, Mistico was allowed to team with Penta and Rey Fenix at AEW Forbidden Door.
The latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter reveals that La Facción Ingobernable's RUSH and Dralistico have also sought Tony Khan's assistance in convincing CMLL to allow them to work together after their previous bans. RUSH left CMLL in 2019 to participate in ROH's Death Before Dishonor event, which coincided with CMLL's 86th Anniversary show. At that time, CMLL claimed they had fired RUSH and Dragon Lee, rather than the wrestlers choosing to leave. Dralistico, who was portraying Mistico at the time, exited CMLL in 2021 to join AAA with his brothers.
The report also noted that Dralistico departed CMLL on more amicable terms and has respected CMLL's wishes, despite his desire to work for AEW in Arena Mexico. RUSH and Dralistico have been attempting to persuade AEW to help lift their ban so that Dralistico can engage in a feud with Mistico. However, CMLL reportedly has no interest in working with either of them, especially RUSH, as they hold him responsible for other companies brokering deals with their talent and offering better pay and conditions.
