Happy New Year everyone. Hope you're all enjoying the holiday season. Let's begin 2006 by ringing out the last Velocity taped from 2005. We start this week with.....
Simon Dean vs Brian Kendrick
Both men come out before Simon cuts one of his promos. Simon says the people he meets are usually morbidly obese who have eaten too much but standing before him is a man who's never eaten any food in his entire life. Simon says Kendrick needs to bulk up and calls him a little man before saying if he was any thinner he'd be invisible. Simon offers 'Hollow Man' a one month no one year supply of his Lean, Dean Mass Plus bars and he tells Kendrick to take them, eat them, put on a few pounds then come back and give him some competition as Simon doesn't want to be responsible for crippling some punk anorexic kid. Simon says his offer will only last five seconds and counts down but at two Kendrick answers him with a series of right hands. Kendrick off the ropes ducks underneath Simon and tosses him to the mat before hitting a heel kick. Kendrick charges in the corner, Simon sends Kendrick to the outside, Kendrick leaps back in and gets a nearfall after a bodyscissors. Simon catches a cross body attempt off the ropes and executes a swinging backbreaker across his knee. Simon with an elbow stomps a mudhole in the corner and lands a back kick before driving a knee into Kendrick's head and delivering butt blows. Simon delivers a double underhook backbreaker across his knee and gets two nearfalls before trapping Kendrick in a front facelock. Simon goes for an Irish whip but Kendrick counters into a backslide for two. Simon works over Kendrick's lower back and locks in an STF before delivering the Curbstomp and letting out a customary 'Yeah' before scoring another nearfall. Simon applies a rear naked choke then a bearhug on the mat but Kendrick fights out with knees. Simon goes for another double underhook move but Kendrick counters into a headscissors takedown. Simon advances but Kendrick fights him off and Simon runs into a heel kick. Kendrick slugs Simon and hits a couple of running flying attacks before dropkicking Simon down. Kendrick nails a spinning DDT from the second rope 1-2-kickout. Kendrick gets Simon up who drives Kendrick into the corner. Simon charges and Kendrick goes for Sliced Bread #2 but Simon hangs onto the ropes and delivers the Simonizer on Kendrick for the 1-2-3. Nice opener. Here is Your Winner: SIMON DEAN.
Paul Burchill w/William Regal vs John Xavier
John Xavier is the former ROH Champion and he has appeared on Velocity before a few years ago and recently on Raw as an extra/Security Guard. Burchill throws Xavier down to begin. Xavier comes back with a rollup for one before grabbing an arm. Burchill reverses off the ropes, Xavier leapfrogs Burchill and comes back with a high knee and a second which puts Burchill in the corner. Xavier chops and Irish whips but Burchill floats over a charge rolls back and catches Xavier in a powerslam for a nearfall. Burchill clubs and knees the back before slamming Xavier and stomping. Xavier blocks a suplex and fights back with forearms, Burchill cuts him off with a knee and boots him into the corner then punches and clubs him into the ropes where Burchill rakes the face before delivering a back suplex. Burchill makes a cover but Xavier clutches the rope at two. Burchill applies a modified crossface on the mat before switching to a standing facelock, Xavier punches free, Burchill clubs and slams but lands on Xavier's knees after attempting a Vader Bomb. Burchill misses a corner charge that allows Xavier to nail a dropkick then attack Burchill with a series of punches, chops and knees in the corner. Xavier runs the ropes but Burchill nails a heart punch. Xavier blocks a hiptoss, goes up and over but Burchill levels him with a clothesline. Burchill picks up Xavier and delivers an exploder suplex/one armed overthrow then goes to the top rope and comes off hitting Xavier with a knee to the back and that's enough for the 1-2-3. Here is Your Winner: PAUL BURCHILL. Nice showcase from both. Post match Regal looks impressed with his protege's work.
Paul London vs Jamie Noble
London with a flight sim type entrance. Noble begins with a hammerlock, London rolls through and reverses into a side headlock takedown, Noble counters out with a headscissors, London flips free and scores with a second side headlock takedown. Noble gets up and sends London to the mat by the hair. London to the corner, Noble chops, London with a series of kicks and a forearm which staggers Noble who falls down in the corner. Noble reverses off the ropes, London with a baseball slide and headscissors takedown. London elbows Noble's head, Noble reverses an Irish whip charges into an elbow and London hits the Mushroom stomp. London runs the ropes charging Noble who throws him over the top rope, London skins the cat back in trying to hook Noble who dropkicks London to the outside where Noble goes out and drives London into the apron. Back inside London prevents a cover by hooking the bottom rope. Noble with a snapmare and a series of kicks to the back drops an elbow for a nearfall before cinching in an abdominal stretch. London escapes via a hiptoss, Noble kicks London back down before sending him off the ropes but London counters Noble and applies his own abdominal stretch which Noble counters into a gutbuster. Noble knees London runs the ropes and London catches him with a dropsault. Both exchange forearms and London staggers Noble with a boot then connects with an enziguiri but can only get a two count. London with a full nelson, Noble has the ropes, London kicks Noble's grip off goes for a back suplex no Noble rolls back and goes for a rollup no Noble tries for the dragon sleeper but London drives Noble into the corner. London with a knee hoists Noble onto the second rope and heads up himself. London clubs the back, Noble sends London off but London rolls back and attacks Noble with a crescent kick to leave Noble sprawled out on the ropes. London to the top rope nails a hurricanrana but Noble turns it into a rollup on the canvas 1-2-no. Noble catches a lunging London on his shoulders and drops him across his knees before applying the dragon sleeper. London tries to fight it but is trapped and taps out to end a crisp thrilling bout. Nunzio & Vito vs Road Warrior Animal & Heidenreich
Nunzio spars with Vito to warm up. It looks like it's Animal starting with Vito no wait Nunzio wants in and he begins for the FBI instead. Nunzio shoves Animal before running into two shoulder tackles. Animal catches a cross body attempt and hits two backbreakers and a slam. Heidenreich winds up the arm and reels in Nunzio for a shoulder tackle. Animal sends Nunzio off the ropes and traps in a bearhug but Vito hits a chopblock behind the referee's back allowing Nunzio to fall on top of Animal and pummel with punches and score a nearfall. The FBI work over Animal's leg with kicks and a double make a wish before wearing him down with punches. Vito nails a slam and a Vader Bomb, Nunzio covers but Animal kicks out sending Nunzio out of the ring. Vito attacks Animal with kicks to the back of the leg to keep his team on the offensive. Nunzio leaps from the second rope but Animal catches in a powerslam and limps into a tag. Heidenreich shoulder tackles Nunzio then clotheslines the FBI and catches them with big boots off the ropes. Heidenreich catches Nunzio in a swinging side slam off the ropes and Vito breaks up the cover at two. Vito charges Animal who sends Vito over the top rope and Nunzio gets caught with the Doomsday Device. Vito can't make the save in time as Heidenreich covers Nunzio for the 1-2-3.
