WWE has already begun laying out the framework for their second ECW One Night Stand PPV on June 10, 2006. Discussions on what venue they will use have included returning to the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City, where the show was held last year or moving it to somewhere in Philadelphia, PA. It is unlikely that they will go to the ECW Arena due to the fact that it looks nothing like it did due to recent renovations.
John Laurinaitis of WWE has been in contact with Terry Funk about working the show, however, a deal has yet to be reached. Funk hasn’t been working as many independent dates, as he recently sold his Double Cross Ranch and at the age of 61 he is only going to work when and where he wants.
Word making rounds through WWE is that they are interested in signing outside talents to stronger deals to prevent the Hardcore Homecoming shows from “piggybacking” off of the ECW concept like last year.
Both Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko have expressed interest into working a match for the show, as Malenko was unable to work last year due to his wife scheduled to give birth the day of the show. If the match occurs it will be done as an Eddie Guerrero tribute match.
Yoshihiro Tajiri is expected to come in from Japan to work the show. Wrestlers that worked last year’s ECW One Night Stand but will be unable to now due to contractual obligations with TNA include The Dudley Boyz, Rhino, Jim Mitchell, and Sabu, It is doubted that The Blue Meanie will work the event due to his last run with WWE, however, anything could change. Names that didn’t work last year that could work this year’s event include Rob Van Dam (who was injured), Roadkill, Johnny Swinger and Al Snow.
