WWE Velocity Report-11th June 2006

Commentators: Steve Romero & Josh Mathews
Greetings fellow Velociters. On a sombre note I'd like to pay tribute to John "Earthquake" Tenta who passed away earlier this week. He was the first heel I remember that scared me when I first started watching Wrestling in the early 90s during his battles with Hulk Hogan and Jake "The Snake" Roberts and when he made Quakeburgers out of the latter's snake Damian. I also thought that no-one could ever beat the Natural Disasters for the tag titles when they turned face in 1992. Even as Golga in the Oddities John Tenta stayed over with the crowd. Earthquake kept in touch with us all via the Wrestlecrap website during his cancer battle showing great courage and fight and I think I can say that we as the Wrestling community are saddened at his passing with our condolences going out to his family. RIP John Tenta. Switching gears this week we also saw the Road Warrior hit the road after behaving like an Animal backstage once all his ideas were turned down. So long Joe Laurinaitis. Onto today's show you would think WWE would mark the last Velocity with something special but alas they haven't. It looks like an ordinary show on paper. Let's see if the action proves me wrong. We begin this week with.......
Tatanka vs Seth James
James has big stiff written on his singlet which the commentators also pick up on. After the commentators talk up Tatanka's Lakota tribe spiel Steve calls him Latanka by mistake LOL. James drops a couple of elbows before continually choking Tatanka on the mat with his hands. James covers for a one count before applying a rear naked choke. Tatanka gets up, elbows free, runs the ropes ducks a clothesline chops James down a couple of times then nails a tomahawk chop off the ropes. James off the ropes into a backbodydrop. Tatanka fires up before chopping James down again. Tatanka slams then stalks James before taking him down with a running charge. Tatanka lets out his warcry. James gets up and Tatanka delivers a swinging side slam for the 1-2-3. Here is Your Winner: TATANKA. A pretty basic opener showcasing Tatanka.

Noble and Kash are announced as the Pitbulls. For once they aren't facing Scotty 2 Hotty & Funaki. The jobbers both look alike. Maybe this Pitbull gimmick can work. Here Are Your Winners: THE PITBULLS. Post match Steve wonders if the Pitbulls have rabies as Noble bites the ropes. Josh puts over the Pitbulls.
Simon Dean vs Matt Hardy
Main Event time. Steve calls Simon the chunky one. Simon comes out on his Dean machine but gets no mic time yet again. I like Simon's promos. Hardy comes out to a big pop. A Hardy chant starts up remaining constant throughout the bout. Hardy remains super over despite being misused by WWE. Here's an idea. If you've read the Hardy's book you'll know what I mean by OMEGA. I wouldn't mind seeing an OMEGA feud regarding the Cruiserweight Title between Helms, Hardy, Shannon Moore and Joey Mercury once he's back from rehab. That could bring some prestige back to the Cruiserweight Title and give all four something to do. Think of the matches these four could put on. Anyways back to the match in question. Both lockup jostling to the corner resulting in a rare clean break. Simon runs his mouth before daring Hardy to step over the imaginary line several times. Hardy does so. Hardy controls with a side headlock and shoulder tackle. Hardy with a side headlock takedown, Simon counters with a headscissors. Hardy nips up, Hardy with a second side headlock takedown. Hardy plays to the crowd giving the V1 sign before punching Simon off the apron. After a second V1 salute Hardy misses with a baseball slide allowing Simon to drop an elbow on the floor. Simon rolls inside looking content to win via countout. Simon removes his ring jacket, Hardy gets back in at an eight count, Simon works over Hardy with a kneedrop, kick, Irish whip, diving spear in the corner before driving his head into the mat. Simon stomps the gut, Simon gets Hardy up who tries to punch back but Simon clubs him down and elbows for a nearfall. Simon chokes Hardy in the second rope. Simon lands a cheeky kick, Simon whips Hardy to the corner then charges but Hardy counters into a sunset flip for a nearfall. Both exchange punches until Simon kicks then elbows the back of the head to knock Hardy down where Simon applies an armbar. Simon cuts off a fightback with an attempted suplex but Hardy blocks and fighting back goes for the Twist of Fate but Simon escapes with a double leg takedown and double stomp on the back for a nearfall. Simon pounds on the back of Hardy's neck before applying a reverse chinlock. Both exchange punches, Simon goes to slam but Hardy counters with an inverted DDT. Hardy gets up first unloading with a barrage of punches to Simon who tries and fails to cover up in the corner. Hardy hits a running clothesline. Simon to the corner. Hardy hits a corner clothesline followed by a running bulldog. Cover 1-2-no. Hardy goes for a side effect but Simon elbows and punches free then whips Hardy to the corner. Simon charges into an elbow. Hardy to the second rope goes for the aaahhh elbow but Simon punches the gut. Simon schoolboys Hardy for a nearfall. Hardy cuts off a rope whip reels in Simon and hits the side effect. 1-2-no. Hardy calls for the finish, Simon grabs Hardy's pants throwing him through the ropes no Hardy hangs on and gets on the apron. Hardy drives his head into Simon's gut before attempting a sunset flip back in. Simon sits down grabs the ropes 1-2-no the referee sees Simon's cheating allowing Hardy to roll Simon back. Simon runs into a boot to the gut, Hardy finally connects with the Twist of Fate 1-2-3. Matt Hardy brings the curtain down on Velocity in a so-so match which picked up towards the end. Here is Your Winner: MATT HARDY. Velocity gets a thumbs in the middle from me this week. The middle two matches were the best of this week's bunch. There was nothing majorly bad but nothing of any major importance happened.
Josh and Steve shill for One Night Stand before Steve signs off saying that's it for Velocity. I've heard Josh Mathews is going to do some work for WWE's Mobile Access. I don't know what Steve Romero's fate is. I don't know whether WWE will still tape matches prior to SmackDown! and air them on the web but if they do I'll try and cover them. If not then I'll put up the Velocity awards Wednesday when I have a clearer idea on WWE's plan regarding the SmackDown! brand. Keep it here for Heat which fortunately for me is still going strong and is keeping me in a job here at Rajah.Com LOL. Shaun.
