ECW House Show Results (8/14/06) - Salisbury, Maryland

Report by: Michael Stevens, rajah.com reader

The announced attendance was approx. 1800; all the upper level seats were
empty.

Rene Dupree vs. Balls Mahoney

Dupree starts on the mic and quickly draws a "shut the **** up" chant. He
berates the crowd, arguing this is why the french are better than americans.
Balls gets the usual applause. Decent match, peppered with "we want fifi"
chants. Balls wins with a sit-down power bomb. He seemed to be favoring his
left forearm even though dupree didn't focus any offense on it.

FBI vs. Nilvan/O'Reilly

Not sure if I got these guys names right. No one had ever heard of them,
prompting chants such as "lose the jobbers", "guido's wrestling clinic" and
in the case of one, "test's little brother". Mamaluke gets isolated for
about 5 minutes, Guido gets the hot tag and cleans house. He goes for a
crossbody but is caught by one of the jobbers, Mamaluke lands a dropkick and
Guido gets the pin.

Danny Doring vs. Kurt Angle

Doring starts on the mic by claiming to be the one who built ECW and how the
crowd should be worshipping him. The crowd is chanting "we want roadkill".
As he goes on, this turns into "danny boring". Kurt comes out to his old
music, presumably so we could enjoy a round of "you suck" chants. Match
lasts 15 seconds, Angle scores a takedown and locks in the Ankle Lock.
Doring taps immediately. Doring is lead out with chants of "you tapped out".

Extreme Bikini Challenge

Francine comes out first, followed by Kelly. Half the crowd didn't know who
Francine was, and based on that Kelly won the contest. Francine jumped her
afterwords. Much attention was paid to Kelly's relative lack of bust-size.

Afterword Kelly said even though she promised not to strip in public
anymore, that doesn't count in salisbury. Right afterword Mike Knox comes in
with the towel to cover her up. The Sandman's music hits. He really milked
this entrance, it took about 10 minutes as he covered every corner of the
crowd. Sandman finally hits the ring and goes to work on Knox. Test jumps
him from behind and they begin a double-team before Tommy Dreamer comes in
to break it up. Dreamer takes the mic and challenges Test and Knox to a tag
match. Test spends a few minutes arguing with the crowd while sandman seems
to have a sore shoulder. Test and Knox start walking away, Dreamer and
Sandman run them down and force them back into the ring.

Tommy Dreamer/Sandman vs. Mike Knox/Test

Crowd was disappointed that this wasn't extreme rules. Mostly Dreamer gets
doubleteamed and worked over by Test. Sandman gets the tag, cleans house,
Dreamer takes Test outside the ring. Sandman hits a white-russian leg sweep
and gets the pin. They pose for a while, Dreamer gives his t-shirt to a kid
in the front row as we go to intermission.

Stevie Richards vs. CM Punk

The crowd was firmly behind Punk, despite a few holdouts for richards.
Chants included "blue world order", "shawn michaels wannabe" and "Right to
censor". While punk was down somebody made note of his tattoo and asked if
he wanted a pepsi. Very good match, probably second best of the evening.
Punk won with...whatever you call his move.

Rob Van Dam vs. Kevin Thorn w/ Ariel

Easily the best match of the evening, the crowd was into everything RVD did
and completely dumping on Thorn. RVD paid special attention to a sign
reading "I beat up John Cena for these seats". "Mordecai" and "You still
suck" were the common chants, with one fan screaming "throw garlic on him"
followed by the suggestion that "helen keller cut his beard". RVD got thorn
outside the ring and followed up with a suicide dive. They beat the count
back into the ring, thorn stays in control most of the way until he goes for
the crucifix, leading to someone saying "scott hall wants his move back".
RVD breaks it, scores with a kick to the head followed by rolling thunder
and the 5-star to get the pinfall. He takes the long way out and it's at
least 10 minutes until RVD's music stops playing. In the meantime, the
referee gives the ring announcer a wet willie.

Sabu vs. Big Show

This was the only extreme rules match of the night. 90% of sabu's offense
was some variation of chair shot. Big show didn't get much in, but milked
every move by arguing with the fans after. Sabu managed to get big show
stunned long enough to set up a table in the corner. He placed an open chair
and used it to jump into big show, who really didn't break through the table
so much as sit down and it broke. Big Show is bleeding above the eye, but it
doesn't look real. Sabu sets up another table, this one in the middle of the
ring. He seems to be trying to jump in and DDT big show but is caught and
chokeslammed through the table. Big Show gets the 3 count.

Big Show exits right after winning, Sabu gets up to pose for a moment before
heading to the back. Good show, not great. I heard someone mentioned
maryland has laws about blood content which may have explained how
relatively tame this was as opposed to the usual ECW show.
