I just got back from the action last night in Newcastle. My first show and I
was very impressed. Here are the results:
Cryme Tyme def Cade and Murdoch - Fair opener, JDG bieng dominated for the
most part, then a hot tag to Chad who cleaned house. Win via that nice
swinging neckbreaker they do oh so well.
Hardcore Holly def Rene Dupree - Dupree starts by saying he's the most
hardcore athlete in ECW history. Yeah right. Pretty much a squash with Holly
winning with the Alabama slam.
Mickie James and Torrie Wilson def Lita and Victoria - Mickie strangely gets
very little offence in and gets worked over for the most part, then a "hot"
tag to Torrie who does the tush push in one of the biggest pops of the
night. Wins after pinning Victoria with the X-Factor move.
Sabu def Kevin Thorne - Sabu had a great night for him with no botched
moves, Thorne submitted after the camel clutch. Not extreme rules though - I
was really looking forward to seeing Sabu with a chair. Oh well :(
Ric Flair, Roddy Piper and The Highlanders def The Spirit Squad - Mitch at
ringside for this one. The Squad go down great with the crowd after calling
us all English wankers. But the crowd was way into Flair, great ovation for
the legend. The Squad work over Robbie then hot tag to Flair who cleans
house. Locks in the figure-four, then Kenny does that awesome leg drop.
Reverse springboard suplex by The Highlandes on Mickey (i think) then they
place Flair on top for the victory.
Then the kiss cam. Need i say more?
Fatal four way for the IC title - Johnny Nitro def Shelton Benjamin, Carlito
and Jeff Hardy - Strong match with a typical ending with the swanton bomb
hit on Benjamin by Hardy, then the chucking Hardy out the ring and Nitro
covering for the victory. The crowd seemed to love these guys - except
Nitro. I'm pretty sure I was the only one supporting him.
Test def Tommy Dreamer - Test really dominated the one with an impressive
victory afer exposing the turnbuckle, then after Dreamers head smashed hit,
he follewed up with a big boot and the F-5 manouver for the finish.
D-Generation X and John Cena def Edge, Randy Orton and Umaga - This match
was changed last minute, probably because they didn't want Cena going over
Umaga in a one-on-one match i guess. Anyway huge support for D-X and Cena.
Egde and Orton work over Michaels for most of the match, tag to Trips who
canes Umaga, but Umaga seems to not be affected by the pain, then Cena and
Edge tag in. All hell breaks loose. Michaels sweet chins Umaga, Orton RKO's
Michaels, Trips pedegrees Orton, Edge spears Trips, then Cena with a F-U on
Edge for the three count.
Overall a quality night and I'll definately be going again. Would have been
nice to see some more heel support though. Meh, still a great event.
