WWE Smackdown! *Spoilers* (7/31/07) - Phoenix, Arizona

Hello, after attending SD/ECW event in Australia I have a report to post
with the most detailed match results, I was fourth row and since its rare
they come here, it was an experience, even though the show wasn't the best.

We opened up with Ric Flair vs. Chris Masters. Ric Flair used chops
throughout the match to keep the crowd happy, Masters used a bearhug for a
period of time. The match got a bit slow until Ric Flair hit a few chop
blocks before applying the figure four leg lock, Chris Masters taps out.

Second match was for the WWE Tag Team Championship where Deuce 'n' Domino
defended against The Major Brothers. Big pops for the Majors, this match was
average with a few rest holds and high flying moves. Domino was thrown
outside and received a crossbody by Brett Major, Brian Major receives a kick
by Deuce for the pin.

Third match was a divas match, Michelle McCool vs. Victoria. Both were
impressive in the ring, this was a pretty good match. Victoria flips
backwards and lands but stumbles back, she falls over and holds onto her
knee, trainers rush down and take off her knee brace. The crowd starting
clapping as she got up, during the injury the ref threw up the "X" and so
did Ricky Steamboat. Michelle held the ropes for Victoria which led to
Victoria booting Michelle out of the ring, threw her in to get the pinfall.

Fourth match was Finaly taking on Kane. The match started slow with another
heel wasting time on the outside. Finlay was shouting some of the fans,
Hornswoggle interferes. Kane drops to his knees to get to Hornswoggle's
height. Hornswoggle does things like putting his hat on Kane and trying to
chokeslam Kane. Kane eliminates Hornswoggle and chokeslams Finlay for the
victory.

Fifth match featured Elijah Burke vs. Stevie Richards. The crowd was
cheering for Stevie even if they didn't know him, Elijah walked out, the
crowd chanted "pussy" Elijah told Chimel to say that if the crowd continues
to make noise he will walk out. Stevie threw Elijah's towel to the crowd
(which landed near me). Elijah got angry, Elijah wins with the roll-up plus
the help from the ropes.

Sixth match was for the ECW Championship, John Morrison vs. Tommy Dreamer.
John came out with his MNM music and announced as Johnny Nitro. He got the
mic and lectured Chimel about his name change. Impressive moves by Morrison
and great pops for Dreamer. Morrison throws Tommy into the steel post and
gets the pin with the forward spinning neckbreaker. Tommy gets up to a
cheer, he lets a fan in with an ECW sign and gives him his t-shirt.

In the co-main event, Rey Mysterio took on Chavo Guerrero. This was an
awesome match. A lot of high flying moves, I enjoyed this one a lot, Rey
Mysterio gets the win after the 619 and the spingboard splash (61911)

The main event features Batista vs. Khali in what I call a very slow match.
Khali uses heaps of Iron Claws, Batista gets the spinebuster, spear, goes
for the Batista Bomb but Hornswoggle and Finlay interferes to make the DQ.
Kane saves Batista.

Batista challenges them to a tag match, they refuse but come back to accept.
More iron claws by Khali, Kane and Batista manage to get the win after a
Batista Bomb on Finlay.

Overall an alright show, originally lined up was people like King Booker,
Mr. Kennedy, Chris Benoit, etc. but things happen over periods of time.

I hope WWE comes back because even though talent was down, they pulled off a
good show.

DARK MATCH:

Unknown Wrestler d. Chavo Guerrero

Yes his official name for the evening is "Unknown Wrestler." Roberts announced him as being from a place unknown, having a weight unknown and then a name unknown. The guy was pretty big and was wearing a mask. Crowd was really into this match of course as it was the first of the night.

ECW LIVE IS AIRED

SMACKDOWN!:

Recap from last week and Smackdown opens up with pyro and all.

Teddy Long & Kristal come out to start the show off. Teddy says the wedding date is set for Friday, September 21st and we're all invited. This celebration is soon interrupted by The Great Khali and his manager. Kristal is scared out of the ring and Teddy gets angry over the interruption then makes a World Title match for Summer slam... Khali defending against Batista. Kane comes out and the ring clears... He's getting ready for a 1-on-1 match.

Kane d. Chris Masters.

Chuck Palumbo promo video airs

Mark Henry d. Nate Dickerson in a squash. Dickerson is a frizzy-haired guy weighing only 175. Henry gets on the mic afterwards and says that no one can beat him and no one will accept a match with him. The reason why? He shows a clip of him beating down The Undertaker a couple months ago.... and that's why.

Deuce is shown backstage looking for Cherry. She ends up coming out of Batista's locker room. Soon after Flair and Batista walk out with smiles on their faces.

Rey Mysterio return video airs... it says he will return at SummerSlam.

This takes us backstage to Vickie looking at Honeymoon magazines with Kristal. Chavo walks in and says he'll break Rey's other leg upon returning. Vickie says it's not funny and that at SummerSlam, Chavo will be taking on Rey Rey.

Arm Wrestling Contest: Matt Hardy d. MVP. MVP gets on the mic and says that he can beat Hardy and he'll get back in the ring right now to prove it. He gets back in the ring and they have a 1-on-1 match. MVP walks out in the middle of the match and Hardy wins via countout.

Backstage Shannon Moore and Funaki are ribbing Jamie Noble for getting beat by the only guy on the roster shorter than Noble... Hornswoggle.

More short jokes continue and Noble says he'll deal with Moore in the ring tonight. Hornswoggle is seen behind them looking on from inside a trashcan.

Jamie Noble d. Shannon Moore. After the match Hornswoggle comes out and ends up throwing a pie right in Noble's face.

Another Chuck Palumbo promo vid airs

Kenny Dykstra vs. Jimmy Wang Yang. Honestly can not remember who won this one. Nothing special.

Another Michelle McCool "Lovin Life" video airs.

Batista & Ric Flair d. Deuce & Domino via DQ. I am almost positive this is what happened as there was no official result announced. Khali comes out toward or after the ending of this match. There was a lot going on so I couldn't tell what exactly happened and when. Khali beats down Flair and then takes off.

After the show goes off the air Batista calls Khali back and he does indeed come out.

At this point I left the arena to beat the crowd but I believe these two had a dark match afterwards. Nothing special there I'm sure.
