Bischoff's Contract Expires, Joey Mercury Returns To OVW, Dev. Wrestlers

-- Eric Bischoff's WWE contract has indeed expired after both sides agreed not to extend it. The creative team had come up with several short-term ideas over the past year to bring him back, but none of them appealed to him.

-- According to Ohio Valley Wrestling's official website (www.ovwrestling.com), former WWE star Joey Matthews aka Joey Mercury has been named the head trainer of OVW's Beginner's Class Program. OVW has a wrestling school, and the people they think that have what it takes to become a professional wrestler start in the beginner's class to learn the basics of wrestling. Former WWE star John "Tank" Toland aka James Dick was the previous beginner's class trainer. He was replaced in favor of Matthews. Here is OVW's announcement:

08/08/2007 - JOEY MATTHEWS NAMED TRAINER OF BEGINNERS CLASS

Ohio Valley Wrestling has now named Joey Matthews the Head Trainer of the OVW/DCW Beginner's Class Program. OVW would like to thank John Toland for his time as the trainer for the Beginner's Class Program.

-- Several developmental wrestlers are appearing on this weekend's swing of house shows. Paul Burchall (in a tag team with Dave Taylor) and "Roughhouse" Ryan O'Reilly (who was a few weeks away from being called up to ECW in a tag team last year, but was suddenly suspended for violating the WWE Wellness Program) are appearing on this weekend's SmackDown house shows. Johnny Jeter (who hasn't appeared in a WWE ring since a battle royal at a Raw in D.C. last December) and Jay Bradley appeared on this weekend's swing of Raw house shows.
