As previously reported, AEW star and pro wrestling legend Dustin Rhodes has been out of in-ring action since he was defeated by Kyle Fletcher of the Don Callis Family for the TNT Title in July of last year. As of March 6th, Rhodes expressed that he was pleased with how his new knees felt following the double-knee surgery he underwent in August.
A report from PWInsider.com noted that Rhodes was backstage during the recent episodes of AEW Dynamite and Collision. His return to the road is a positive sign of his recovery. It was also mentioned that spending time backstage in a non-wrestling capacity may serve as preparation for a potential producer role when Rhodes eventually retires from full-time wrestling.
In a conversation with Fox News Digital, Rhodes revealed that he plans to return to the ring in two to three weeks.
According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com, Rhodes worked as a producer during last week's taping and was seen running the ropes in the ring before the show began, likely working towards getting cleared by AEW medical professionals for his in-ring return. Johnson also noted that everyone backstage was happy to have Rhodes back on the road, and he appeared to be in good spirits.
