AEW Commentator Sounds Off On Current Amount Of Titles Featured In The Promotion

If you're a male singles competitor in the pro wrestling business -- regardless of how much you weigh -- there are two championship belts to go after in All Elite Wrestling.

If you're a female singles competitor, there is one.

If you're in a tag-team combination, there is one.

According to WWE Hall Of Fame legend Jim Ross, this is exactly how the championship landscape in AEW should be.

During a recent edition of his "Grilling JR" podcast, the AEW Dynamite on TNT television commentator and longtime behind-the-scenes pro wrestling executive shared his thoughts on the current title scene in the company compared to the old days of titles being based on weight, such as the Cruiserweight and/or Junior Heavyweight titles often featured in various promotions in the past.

Featured below is an excerpt from the episode where "Good Ole' J.R." sounds off with his thoughts on the titles currently featured in AEW.

"In AEW we have two major titles for the men and they have nothing to do with weight class. The TNT title and the AEW title has nothing to do with how much the guys weigh. There’s none of that there. I think that’s the better solution than where we were trying to go back then.

"I understand it’s back then but a lot of the talents when they knew they were going to put in the Cruiserweight, Junior Heavyweight, any term you want to use, that’s where you’re going to reside, they quickly wanted to find a real estate agent and move because they felt like it was the kiss of death and they were never going to be considered as formidable as a heavyweight. They weren’t going to headline pay per views, they were going to be support staff."
