AEW Veteran Reacts To His Loss To Claudio Castagnoli In The Continental Classic Tournament

Last Wednesday night, the post-AEW Full Gear and Thanksgiving Eve episode of AEW Dynamite featured four matches from the AEW Continental Classic Tournament to kick off the 2025 edition of the tournament. In the main event, Claudio Castagnoli from The Death Riders defeated "Freshly Squeezed" Orange Cassidy from The Conglomeration in Blue League action.

Following the match, Cassidy took to his Twitter (X) account to comment on the loss, discussing both the result and its impact. He expressed that the defeat was disappointing and admitted it was not the start he had hoped for in what he described as the most significant tournament of his career. Cassidy mentioned that although he had studied footage of Castagnoli and wrestled him several times leading up to the event, his preparation did not alter the outcome.

Cassidy also acknowledged that losing hinders his progress in the tournament standings and recognized the need to make adjustments as the Continental Classic continues.

This is what Orange Cassidy said, “Yeah. That hurt. I guess that’s not a good way to start. The biggest tournament I’ve ever been in in my entire life, you know? I knew what to expect. I’ve been there. I’ve watched the tape. I’ve wrestled Claudio. I don’t know how many times in the past three weeks. He still got me. He still got me. Yeah, I don’t know. I don’t know what else to say. You know, I lost. I shouldn’t do that. Because that’ll prevent me from winning, you know, I guess. I don’t know what else to say. I don’t know what… This is my first one, so… I’ll get better with the match and doing all this. But I’m gonna… I’m gonna go. All right. Okay. See you guys next time, I think.”
