In the latest edition of the Being The Elite Mailbag, The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) were asked to name a venue where they would love to wrestle. They mentioned Madison Square Garden. Similarly, on Twitter (X), former AEW World Champion MJF echoed this sentiment in response to a fan discussion started by Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp. This prompted many fans to wonder if AEW might hold a show at MSG in the future.
However, according to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, he has ruled out any possibility of this happening, as AEW has not secured a date at the venue.
Meltzer noted that the company was offered a date in its inaugural year, 2019, but that offer was ultimately rescinded, and nothing has changed since then. He believes that AEW would easily sell out a pay-per-view at Madison Square Garden, but it would be wise for them to avoid hosting television shows there due to the high costs associated with both the venue and union requirements.
