Backstage News On How Rare No-Cut Contracts Are In WWE

The roster cuts by WWE following WrestleMania 42 have generated significant discussion in recent weeks. Fans were particularly shocked when it was revealed that The New Day, consisting of Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, had parted ways with the company. This news was surprising, especially since they had signed multi-year contracts just last year.

Subsequently, it came to light that Kingston and Woods were dissatisfied with the terms of the restructured deal offered by TKO, which ultimately led to their release. In addition to their departure, over a dozen main roster wrestlers were also released from their contracts late last month. These recent cuts have once again emphasized the lack of contractual security within the company.

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, no-cut contracts are virtually nonexistent in WWE, aside from one or two top talents. Meltzer mentioned that some of these top stars had previously attempted to add a no-cut clause to their contracts, but their requests were denied. Furthermore, they were assured that they would not be released, yet the company still refused to provide this assurance in writing.
