Backstage News On How WWE WrestleMania 42’s Card Is Coming Together

WWE held its 2026 Royal Rumble premium live event (PLE) on Saturday, January 31, at the Riyadh Season Stadium, a temporary outdoor venue in the King Abdullah Financial District of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This event marked the beginning of the Road to WrestleMania 42, part of the 2025–2026 Riyadh Season. The show featured Roman Reigns and Liv Morgan securing their spots at WrestleMania by winning the Men’s and Women’s Royal Rumble matches, respectively.

During the following episode of Monday Night RAW, Roman Reigns announced his opponent for WrestleMania 42. He entered the ring and revealed that he would challenge CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship in Las Vegas this April. Meanwhile, Liv Morgan kept her choice of opponent a secret, confronting both Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer on RAW and WWE Women’s Champion Jade Cargill on SmackDown.

According to Fightful Select, WWE plans to determine the challengers for the other World Titles at the Elimination Chamber PLE. However, much of the WrestleMania 42 card remains undecided. The report indicates that several original plans for WrestleMania have not yet been presented, and discussions about the majority of the card are still ongoing.

WrestleMania 42 is scheduled for Saturday, April 18, and Sunday, April 19, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, providing the promotion ample time to prepare a fitting lineup for The Showcase of The Immortals. Last year, Night One and Night Two each featured seven matches, so it is likely that Triple H will book a similar number of bouts this year.
