Backstage News On Motor City Machine Guns’ WWE Departure And Potential Next Destination

As previously reported, Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin of the Motor City Machine Guns were among those released by WWE on Friday as part of their recent roster cuts. Sabin has confirmed their exit from the company.

According to Fightful Select, the Motor City Machine Guns will be free from their WWE contracts in July due to a 90-day clause. The report also mentioned that they spoke with sources in TNA, who stated that the duo would always be welcome there but expect them to end up in AEW instead. AEW had shown interest in the Motor City Machine Guns for 2024 and made an offer, but the team chose to go to WWE after WWE matched that offer. It is currently unclear whether AEW has reached out to them again.

Additionally, the report indicated that sources within WWE suggested that Shelley and Sabin seemed aware that they would remain active outside of WWE and plan to continue wrestling. They also intend to pursue their band, GRPPLNG. WWE sources noted that the two appeared to hope for more opportunities to wrestle within WWE but were satisfied with how they were utilized. The duo was not scheduled to travel to the SmackDown tapings last week.
