During the latest edition of the Fightful Select Answers Q&A, details emerged about the role of WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman within WWE's creative team. Currently, Heyman serves as the manager and counsel for The Vision on RAW, but it has been unclear whether he also has a formal role in the creative process.
In the Q&A, a fan inquired about Heyman's involvement in WWE's creative team following his recent comments about Intercontinental Champion Penta in the Netflix docuseries "WWE: Unreal." According to Sean Ross Sapp, Heyman “contributes quite a bit” to the creative side, particularly with the talent he works with on-screen. It was noted that if Heyman takes a liking to a particular talent, he will go out of his way to help them.
However, Heyman has shared with Sapp that this strategy can backfire, as individuals in the company may spitefully reject anyone that Heyman chooses to support. Despite this, it is reported that he is generous with his advice and assistance to any talent who seeks his help.
In June 2019, Heyman was appointed as the Executive Director of Monday Night RAW to oversee the show's creative direction. Approximately a year later, WWE decided to consolidate its creative team under Bruce Prichard's leadership. The announcement at the time stated, “In an effort to streamline our creative writing process for television, we have consolidated both teams from RAW and SmackDown into one group, led by Bruce Prichard. Paul Heyman will concentrate on his role as an in-ring performer.”
Despite being removed from his Executive Director position, Heyman continued his presence in WWE as an on-air character, eventually becoming known as The Wise Man for Roman Reigns and The Bloodline.
