Backstage News On Reactions Within WWE To Royal Rumble 2026 Appearing Empty

As previously reported, the 2026 WWE Royal Rumble premium live event (PLE), which took place on January 31st, encountered an issue with the LED lighting in the audience. This lighting gave the new arena an appearance of being empty for large portions of the show, and it sparked considerable discussion online. The event was held at the Riyadh Season Stadium, a new venue located in the King Abdullah Financial District, which was constructed quickly to accommodate WWE's PLE.

According to Fightful Select, discussions about the lighting issue were not proactive backstage, and several talents informed the publication that they were unaware of any conversations regarding the topic at first. They only became aware of the issue after seeing the discussions online.

The previous report indicated that WWE distributed 25,000 tickets for the show, but the lighting made it appear as though the attendance was much lower. Additionally, one source mentioned that they did not expect WWE to use the LED lighting when they return to Saudi Arabia.
