Backstage News On RJ City's Current Status With AEW

As previously reported, the AEW YouTube series titled “Hey! (EW)” concluded with its December 7 episode. This final installment included comedic segments featuring pro wrestling veteran Eddie Kingston, Renee Paquette, AEW President and CEO Tony Khan, and TBS Champion "The CEO" Mercedes Moné, while maintaining the show's signature tone.

According to Fightful Select, inquiries from fans regarding the show's cancellation prompted the publication to seek clarification. They reported that AEW had been aware of the show’s conclusion for quite some time. The decision to end the series had already been made by the time of the AEW WrestleDream pay-per-view, where Kingston's segment was specifically filmed for the final episode. The report also indicated that AEW made efforts to conduct as many interviews as possible during the editing process of the last episode. Additionally, RJ City chose to conclude his segment, “RJ City Makes Coffee In His Underwear,” at the same time to achieve a “clean sweep” of his shows.

Regarding RJ City, it was reported that he is not leaving AEW. He is actively involved in AEW’s creative team and has been publicly credited for his work with Toni Storm on her creative direction. Furthermore, it was noted that City will continue hosting AEW Zero Hour pre-shows, with the possibility of developing new content in the future.
