Backstage News On Roman Reigns’ Beatdown Angle At WWE Clash In Paris

Immediately following the opening match of yesterday's WWE Clash in Paris premium live event (PLE), Roman Reigns was brutally attacked by "Big" Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker after he had already defeated Reed in a singles match. Reigns was then stretchered out of the Paris La Défense Arena following the vicious beatdown.

According to PWInsider.com, as some fans have already speculated, the angle involving Reigns' attack was devised to write him off WWE TV, as he is set to begin filming for Legendary’s new Street Fighter movie very soon. The report noted that Reigns is expected to work on the project until the end of September, with filming anticipated to wrap up during the week of September 26, assuming everything goes according to schedule.

Reigns has been cast as Akuma in the upcoming Street Fighter film, which is slated for theatrical release next year. Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes is also part of the cast, playing Colonel William F. Guile, while NJPW star and former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Hirooki Goto will portray E. Honda in the movie.
