Backstage News On When AEW Grand Slam Mexico 2026 Is Expected To Take Place

AEW Grand Slam Mexico is set to make a return this year, but it will not happen in the same timeframe as last year's event, which took place at Arena Mexico in Mexico City on June 18.

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, this year's show will also be held at Arena Mexico, but on a date "later in the year." The report did not specify exactly what that timeframe would be or if a particular date has been determined by AEW and CMLL.

The return of Grand Slam Mexico is not unexpected. Tony Khan mentioned during an appearance on Q101 in December that the event would return in 2026, stating, “We have amazing partners in CMLL, so I would want to work with them, and we’re going to work with them. So Grand Slam Mexico will be back in 2026 and I’m just pleased that they’ll have us.”

Last year’s Grand Slam Mexico featured exciting matches, including MJF defeating Mistico via disqualification, Mercedes Moné winning the CMLL Women’s World Title from Zeuxis, and a thrilling main event where Will Ospreay, the Opps, and Swerve Strickland faced off against the Death Riders, the Young Bucks, and The Beast Mortos.
