Backstage News On WWE Clearing Andrade To Compete At WWC Uprising

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE granted Andrade clearance on the final day to participate in the WWC Uprising show on Saturday, December 13th. Meltzer noted that WWE had previously prohibited Andrade from competing in other promotions, including CMLL and NJPW, which made the last-minute approval for the WWC show seem unusual to industry observers.

Meltzer pointed out that this decision by WWE could lead to confusion since Andrade was cleared by WWC but remained unavailable for other non-AEW promotions. AEW is viewed as a direct competitor, which explains that restriction; however, WWC's approval still raises questions.

Additionally, Meltzer mentioned that WWC is run by Carlos Colón and operates outside of WWE's main competitive sphere, which may explain why WWE felt comfortable allowing Andrade's appearance. Nonetheless, the selective nature of these approvals has attracted attention. Andrade not only participated in the event but also defeated Xavant to win the WWC Universal Heavyweight Championship.
