As previously reported, the end of "Hey! EW" has been planned for some time. The decision to conclude the show was based on creative considerations, not contractual ones. RJ City, the show's host, is still engaged with his other responsibilities. The end of City’s coffee-related content coincided with this decision to provide both projects with a “clean sweep.”
In the latest edition of Fightful Select Answers, it was confirmed that City is not leaving AEW anytime soon. Recent changes to his on-screen projects are not due to any uncertainty regarding his contract. Despite wrapping up the popular digital series “Hey! EW” earlier this month and ending his long-running coffee project, City remains under contract and continues to be actively involved with the company.
The report also indicated that City is contributing behind the scenes at AEW. According to Sean Ross Sapp, it is expected that City will be involved in creative aspects and contribute to new content. There are no indications of a reduction in his on-air role or a potential exit; rather, his focus has shifted more towards development and idea generation instead of regular digital hosting. The conclusion of "Hey! EW" also creates an opportunity for AEW to refresh its digital programming strategy.
