Backstage News On WWE Moving Ahead With Night Of Champions In Saudi Arabia Amid Uncertainty

As previously reported, WWE has officially confirmed that its 2026 Night of Champions Premium Live Event (PLE) will take place on Saturday, June 27, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This announcement comes despite ongoing regional conflicts, as the event is part of WWE's strategic partnership with Saudi Arabia, which includes hosting two large-scale events each year.

The financial details of the partnership suggest that it is valued at approximately $55 million per event. While the date has been listed throughout the year, the recent war has raised concerns. Nevertheless, WWE continues to promote and plan for Night of Champions without any announcements regarding changes, cancellations, or relocations.

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE’s stock price has fallen to $187.76, down from a high of $226.94 in 2025. Meltzer indicated that any changes to scheduled events could negatively impact the stock price due to the loss of expected revenue from canceling the show. He suggested that WWE needed to make a public announcement soon, saying it was “getting late,” but noted that the event is always “subject to change.”

Meltzer expressed that it would be unwise for WWE not to have a backup plan in case they cannot proceed to Saudi Arabia. He mentioned that given the financial stakes, it would take significant circumstances for them to cancel, implying they would continue to promote the event up until they were forced to make a change. He referenced the 2018 Jamal Khashoggi murder, highlighting how WWE proceeded with Crown Jewel despite calls for cancellation.

In conclusion, Meltzer stated that the decision of whether WWE will go to Saudi Arabia will depend on the war situation as the event date approaches. The prevailing mentality appears to be to proceed with the event and secure the revenue unless it becomes impossible to do so. As of now, Night of Champions is still scheduled for Riyadh on June 27, and WWE has not provided additional updates beyond ongoing promotion and preparation for the event.
