Backstage News On WWE's Plans For Main Event Of WrestleMania 42

WWE may be planting the seeds of a major WrestleMania 42 match for Roman Reigns after having to pivot due to an injury.

On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that WWE's initials plans had Roman Reigns set to face Seth Rollins at WrestleMania and while that is still a possibility with Rollins aiming to be back for that show, Meltzer hinted that WWE is building towards something entirely different.

According to Meltzer, the impression he was given is that this Saturday at Survivor Series, specific teases will drop during the WarGames match to give the audience a sense as to which direction WWE is going to be going for the WrestleMania main event. Meltzer added that the tease on Monday's Raw (with Reigns seemingly targeting one of the championship belts) was absolutely geared towards WrestleMania with Reigns' opponent likely being either Cody Rhodes or CM Punk.

He noted that because WWE has already done Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns twice, the sense he gets is that WWE will be leaning more towards a Punk-Reigns match instead. At Survivor Series though, Meltzer doesn't expect that question to be answered and he speculated that WWE will do teases with both Rhodes and Punk to keep fans guessing and the mystery going.
