AJ Lee appeared on Stephanie McMahon's "What's Your Story?" podcast this week and the two of them dug up an incident from 2015 where McMahon responded to Patricia Arquette's Oscar speech where she spoke of women's equality.
This caused Lee, a member of the WWE roster at the time, to basically call out Stephanie for hypocrisy as WWE women were being paid significantly less than their male counterparts despite drawing equal ratings and merchandise sales. Both Stephanie and Vince McMahon had no choice but to respond to Lee's tweet and the backstage sentiment at the time was that Stephanie was upset at being called out.
Fightfulselect.com reports that with Lee appearing on Stephanie's podcast and the two of them addressing the exchange back in 2015, it surprised a lot of wrestlers backstage that Lee even appeared on the show as they expected the issues between them to remain "buried in the past."
