Backstage News On WWE's Plans For This Month's Elimination Chamber PLE

WWE is scheduled to hold its 2026 Elimination Chamber premium live event (PLE) on Saturday, February 28, at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, as of February 2, one of the proposed featured matchups for the event is Finn Bálor challenging World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk for his title.

Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp noted that since the event will take place in Punk’s hometown of Chicago, there are long-term plans for him to compete at the event in some capacity. One idea is for Punk to accept a rematch with Bálor on his "home turf," especially following their previous encounter in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Bálor expressed his desire to reclaim the World Heavyweight Title during last Monday’s episode of WWE RAW. However, on the same show, Royal Rumble winner Roman Reigns announced that he would be challenging CM Punk for the title at WrestleMania 42. This suggests that Reigns will face the winner of a potential CM Punk vs. Finn Bálor matchup at Elimination Chamber.

Notably, WWE Elimination Chamber 2026 will be the first WWE PLE held at the United Center in over 30 years.
