Backstage Reaction Within WWE To Evolution 2 Has Been Largely Mixed

WWE recently announced the second iteration of "Evolution" - the all women premium live event which first aired several years ago.

While rumors of Evolution 2 had long been gaining traction, fightfulselect.com reports that almost every person on the WWE women's roster were unaware that it was actually going to happen and found out along with the rest of us when WWE announced it publicly. However, there were some exceptions as a few "top talent" as well as at least one legend were made aware that the show was going to go down and the legend may actually end up being booked on the show.

Internally, the reaction to WWE holding Evolution in the circumstances announced has drawn mixed reactions. Some on the roster understand the meaning of the show, but point to the first show and the "curtain call" element that happened at the end, noting that it was unlikely WWE would have had male wrestlers do that. Another person backstage pointed out that the show is going to be going up against a Beyonce concert that is quite literally a five minute walk away and with increased hotel prices, if the show doesn't perform well, the company will have a reason to justify never doing it again. Another top talent within WWE felt that the company has too many premium live events as it is and they aren't sure what WWE will be doing with Evolution.

However, the reaction wasn't all negative. One veteran wrestler expressed excitement towards the event and hoped that it would allow female talent who don't get used often an opportunity to showcase their talents on a PLE. They were also hopeful that WWE would bring in legends that ultimately would be integrated with newer talent to help build the event.

One veteran expressed their excitement and said hopefully many of the women that don’t get used often get an opportunity to shine. They also said they’re hoping that legends can be integrated with the newer talent to help build things. The talent specified WWE has to help build it for it to be a success and that WWE has to be leading that charge considering much of the pessimism as of late is geared towards how WWE has been booking the division as of late.
