Recently, a rumor surfaced via SEScoops suggesting that former WWE star Aleister Black is in "active negotiations" with AEW regarding a potential return to the company. According to a source with direct knowledge of the discussions, talks between Black and AEW are ongoing, despite public claims that Black may not be welcomed back.
However, Fightful Select reports that AEW is officially denying any talks with Black at this time. Black still has over two months remaining on his contract with WWE, and while his 90-day no-compete clause has ended, Fightful noted that "anything can happen between now and then." Nonetheless, AEW has publicly stated that there are no current discussions with Black.
A previous report from Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp indicated that the relationship between AEW and Black has not been completely severed, which suggests that the door for a potential return remains open.
Black previously wrestled in AEW from 2021 to 2024 under the ring name Malakai Black. During his time there, he formed the House of Black stable and won the AEW World Trios Titles alongside Buddy Matthews and Brody King. Black was among the numerous talent released by WWE last month, including his wife, former WWE Women's United States Champion Zelina Vega.
