What is going on with "The Scottish Warrior" since WrestleMania?
A lot of recovering and negotiating, apparently.
Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez gave an update on the status of Drew McIntyre during the latest installment of their Wrestling Observer Radio program at F4WOnline.com.
As noted, it was known going into the SmackDown After WrestleMania show this past Friday night that McIntyre was going to miss the show as a result of an injury/health issue.
The longtime pro wrestling journalist noted during the show that McIntyre did not suffer the issue during his WrestleMania Goes Hollywood match last Sunday night, and that he actually went into the show with it and worked through it in what turned out to be a very physical match with Sheamus and GUNTHER for the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
Currently, it is unclear when McIntyre will be on the sidelines recovering. It is also unknown when the issue first began.
Earlier this week it was reported that "The Scottish Warrior" and WWE have been negotiating terms for a potential deal that would see the popular pro wrestling star re-sign with the company, and that the two sides are reportedly "not close" on agreeing to the financial side of the potential contract.
It's worth noting, however, that McIntyre's ongoing contract negotiations with WWE played no part in his absence from the Friday Night SmackDown show last week at the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon, and that his current deal with the company is not set to expire for a "long while."
All Elite Wrestling is scheduled to make their big venue debut in the United Kingdom this August, with the company announcing their inaugural ALL IN premium live event for 8/27 at Wembley Stadium in London, England.
As a result of the location and timing of the event, there has been talk that McIntyre could end up jumping-ship from WWE to AEW, however Meltzer noted during Wrestling Observer Radio that he doesn't think it would be "contractually possible."
We will keep you posted here at Rajah.com as updates continue to surface regarding the WWE contract status and injury/health recovery of Drew McIntyre.
