As previously reported, top AEW star and former AEW World Champion Samoa Joe has been sidelined due to an undisclosed non-contact injury he sustained during training. Sean Ross Sapp provided an update on Joe’s injury and his expected time away from the ring during the latest episode of Fightful Select Answers.
According to Sapp, Joe's condition is being monitored on a "week-to-week" basis, as AEW is exercising caution regarding his situation. Although the injury was described as a "non-contact" issue, Sapp also mentioned that Joe is currently in concussion protocol.
In related news, due to Joe’s absence, HOOK has stepped in as the leader of The Opps while Joe is out.
