As previously reported, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods departed from WWE at the beginning of the month. They were asked to restructure their contracts and accept a pay cut, which they declined. This decision ultimately led to them requesting their releases, which were granted. Kingston and Woods have already been announced as guests for GalaxyCon 2026, scheduled for later this month, where they will be appearing under the names Austin Creed and Kofi.
According to Fightful Select, Kingston and Woods are set to participate in additional convention dates that have yet to be announced, and they are expected to be significant draws on the convention circuit. The report also mentions that with AEW, where they are speculated to land, over a dozen sources are unanimous in their support for the two joining the company. Typically, there’s at least one person who disagrees with the notion of new talent coming in, but in this case, everyone is on board.
Additionally, several prominent figures within the industry have been advocating for Kingston and Woods to join AEW. Both Kingston and Woods are universally respected talents across all promotions, leading many to anticipate their arrival in AEW. It is important to note, however, that the report does not indicate that The New Day has engaged in talks with AEW, only that there is a strong expectation they will end up there.
