Backstage Update On Slower WrestleMania 42 Ticket Sales And WWE’s Reaction

As previously reported, WWE WrestleMania tickets are selling slower this year compared to last, prompting the company to explore promotions and strategies to boost sales.

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, as of February 13th, a total of 36,964 tickets had been distributed for night one of WrestleMania 42, while night two saw 36,737 tickets sold. In contrast, WrestleMania 41 had over 44,000 tickets sold for both nights at the same time last year. Meltzer noted that about 700 tickets were moved following the promo featuring CM Punk and Roman Reigns, which officially announced their match. This figure includes both paid and complimentary tickets.

Meltzer also pointed out that while WWE has significantly reduced the allocation of comped tickets for family and friends, various business partners still receive complimentary tickets. However, this number remains relatively small, especially considering that match announcements typically drive ticket sales.

He attributed the slower sales to higher ticket prices in the TKO era, which, while beneficial for profits, can negatively impact attendance. Additionally, tourism in Las Vegas has decreased; reports indicate a 9.2% decline in tourism from December 2024 to December 2025, with a notable 23% drop in visitors from Canada.

Another factor affecting ticket sales is WWE's creative direction. Although the current creative plans have not directly influenced ticket sales—since only one match has been officially announced—WWE's creative team, led by Triple H, has been making numerous changes to their plans. Meltzer mentioned that the decline in ticket sales has led to a re-evaluation of the match card. There has been frustration regarding a game plan that keeps changing, with suggestions to stick with the established plan, which is deemed effective.

While WWE has not made an "official" announcement, World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk essentially confirmed on the No-Contest Wrestling podcast that his match with Roman Reigns will main event night two.

Earlier this week, WWE held a meeting to address the ticket sales situation for WrestleMania 42, during which multiple departments were instructed to develop promotions and strategies to enhance both ticket sales and overall momentum for the event. For the time being, WWE plans to maintain the current ticket prices.
