Backstage Update On WWE Night Of Champions Status In Saudi Arabia Amid Ongoing Iran Conflict

As previously reported, WWE was planning to hold two additional shows in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2026. However, there are many questions surrounding these events due to the ongoing war in Iran. One of the shows was tentatively scheduled for June.

According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, the June show in Saudi Arabia is now in jeopardy. Sources within WWE have indicated to the outlet that it is “doubtful at best” that WWE Night of Champions 2026 will take place there because of the ongoing conflict.

While circumstances could still change, the current outlook suggests that the event is unlikely to happen in Saudi Arabia. An earlier report from F4WOnline's Bryan Alvarez mentioned that WWE had engaged in “discussions” regarding the status of the two shows in Saudi Arabia due to the recent conflict, which has also spread to other countries in the region after Iran struck American bases in allied territories, including Saudi Arabia.

At that time, Alvarez noted that while WWE was only in discussions about the shows' status, no definitive decisions had been made. However, Dave Meltzer reported in a F4WOnline.com daily update that many in WWE believe it is unlikely that the summer Premium Live Event (PLE) in the region will occur unless the situation improves.

Based on the recent WrestleVotes Radio report, it seems that those discussions have progressed somewhat, and it's now considered “doubtful at best” that the Saudi shows will proceed this year as originally planned. WWE held last year’s Night of Champions in Riyadh on June 28. The 2023 event took place in May in Jeddah. Additionally, King and Queen of the Ring 2024 was held in Jeddah in May of that year. WrestleMania 43 is also scheduled for 2027 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and it remains unclear how the current conflict might impact this upcoming event unless the situation changes.

Following next month's WrestleMania 42, the next WWE PLE on the company’s schedule is Clash in Italy, which will be held in Turin on May 31. After that, the only other summer PLE scheduled is SummerSlam 2026, taking place on August 1-2 at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota. WWE has not yet announced a summer PLE for June or July, and the situation remains uncertain due to the conflict in Iran.
